objects of affection

2024
objects of affection is about the things we keep and carry throughout our lives that hold personal meaning. This series of work explores the small and personal, gathering pieces of my life, stories of others, and those yet to unfold.

The series of work is brought together by a bojagi (보자기), a traditional Korean wrapping cloth used for carrying everyday items and gifts. The cloth holds the project statement, keychain, and publications.

The original piece is made from second hand scraps sewn together. Multiple double-sided screen prints on muslin fabric serve as facsimiles.

A Collaborative Zine Workshop

A Risograph workshop using analog methods. I invited friends to answer prompts about their personal connections to objects, places, and people. Each prompt is a page of the collaborative zine.

Printed using Fluroescent Orange, Mint, and Blue Risograph ink.

A Community Drawing Survey

A Community Drawing Survey is a collection of public responses recorded at the Unbound Book Fair on April 6th 2024.

Four prompts on each worksheet asked participants to draw or write responses. The survey sparked conversation and reflection among those who passed by and took a moment out of their day to consider objects in their life that hold personal meaning and significance.

An Interview Series

The book houses ten conversations with friends, both old and new, about the ways we cherish the things most important to us and view home and relationships through personal belongings.
Objects ranged from stuffed animals and jewelry to a suitcase, and even an entire desk.
Each interview is individual, designs varying based on the course of the interview.
